Send Us Your Caring Spirit

During this Lenten Season, O Lord, we remember how in the midst of the pain of body and soul you still cared for others, even your enemies.  Give us grace to let our own discomforts or hardships bring appreciation of the need and distress of others.  Have mercy upon the sick that they may obtain faith to endure and receive strength from medicine and sleep.  Comfort the sorrowing and let them see your everpresent Love at work healing thier broken hearts.  We pray in your most blessed Name.  Amen.

Let The Compassion of the Cross Rule in our Hearts

Heavenly Mother/Father, help us to keep the great riches and blessings of our day from crucifynig you afresh.  Save us from the madness of vengeance and from the foolishness of impatience.  Teach us that we cannot bring your Love to the world until we have first let the Love and compassion of the cross rule in our hearts.  Make us to be companions with you in all of life.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Grant Us Faith

Precious Lord, take my hand.  May that prayer always be with us, Dear God, to remind us that no matter how frightening life can become, we need not fear because you are always with us.  May our comfort come, not from any human power, but from the power of your Spirit dwelling in our hearts.  Grant us such faith, Lord of the uiverse.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Grant Us Your Unchanging Love

Lord of storm and calm, of day and night, of life and death;  Grant to us faithful hearts directed toward your unchanging love.  Help us to walk humbly by your side and in lovingkindness toward one another.  Grant us your unchanging love in all the sorms and troubles of this mortal life.  We pray in your most blessed Name.  Amen..

How Wondrous Are Your Works

Creator God, when we view the vastness of your creaton, we cannot comprehend the magnitude of your creative genius and power, and we are humbled that we can even communite with you through prayer.  How wondrous are your works!  Like the Psalmist of old, we cry out "What is man that you are mindful of him??"  Yet you have shown your love for us through the centuries by establishing a covenant of love with us that you fulfilled for us through the sacrificial death of your Son, Jesus Christ.  There are not words enough to praise you or thank you for that Love!!  So we offer our lives in obedience to you - use them to glorify your Name.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen,

Grant Us The Assistance Of Your Spirit

Lord God, who knows the weakness of our nature; grant us the continual assistance of your Holy Spirit, that we might resist the many temptations we face every day.  Imprint on our hearts and minds your saving Word, that we might follow the leading of Scripture which revealas your Will through the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.  May we be endowed with such a grateful sense of your Goodness, that we do our very best to  please you and to serve one another.  This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

Your Salvation Is Our Hope

O Christ, you lightened the burdens of humanity; teach us to bear one another's burdens and so fulfill your law.  Forbid that we should think of your cross as being distant from any of us.  Lord, in your salvation of the world is our hope; let our hope become known to all the world.  Make us partners in your mission by gratefully sharing the gift of new life that was born when you gave your life for us all. In your most blessed Name, we offer this prayer.  Amen.

For Greater Love

Eternal God, who is worthy of a greater love than we can either give or understand; help us in this sacred season of Lent, by granting us grace and knowledge, to love you more and more.  Put into our hearts a continual desire to obey your will, and give us grace and power to fulfill the same.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

King of Creation

Gracious King of all creation, we gratefully come to you in prayer to be in the presence of your redeeming Love and strengthening Spirit.  Thank you for reaching out to us with your saving grace in Christ Jesus our Lord.  During this Lenten Season we remind ourselves of our need for forgiveness, and of your willoingness to come to us with your steadfast Love shown through his sacrifice on the Cross.  We are humbled by your steadfast love and encouraged to take that love and share it with all whom we meet and with whom we live.  Grant us the wisdom and the courage to walk in your way always.  In Jesus Name we pray.  Amen.

Comfort Us In Our Suffering

Compassionate God, it is a beautiful day today - but we know that for many, this is another day of suffering.  Comfort those who are afflicted with physical, mental or spiritual pain.  When your Son, Jesus, came to you in anguish before his crucifixion, you sent angels to minister unto him and give him strength.  We look to you with the same longing for support in our days of trouble - may we feel the presence of your angels around us, upholding us, comforting us.  Be with all of us today and in the days ahead as we suffer or seek to help those who are suffering.  May we be your angels of mercy ministering unto therm.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Like the sun bathes the earth and brings new life to every living thing, so you loving Spirit brings new life to all who call on you in prayer.  Thanks by unto you for that unspeakable gift of love!!  As we begin this new day, we open our hearts and minds to the widsom of your Word found in scripture - illumine us to see you in every aspect of life today.  Encourage us to have the courage to follow your leading no matter how uncertain it might be.  Give us complete and unshakable trust in your loving kindness, that we stray not from the course of life you have laid out for each one of us.  Help us to be faithful children.  In Christ's Name we pray.  Amen.

Behold Your Immeasureable Love

God our Father, who sent your only begotten Son to bring your saving Life to a sin-filled world;  open the eyes of our souls to behold your immeasurable love.  We have no merit to plead our need.  In Christ's sacrifice you forever offer redemption to your c hildren.  Guide our minds to learn of your Christ, and incline our hearts to believe in him.  We pary in Jesus' Name.  Amen.

May We Glorify Your Name

All Loving God, thank you for this beautiful new day.  May we use it to bring glory to your name.  We know that for millions around the world, this day will be filled with pain and suffering and death.  Be with those to comfort and uphold them in their dire need.  May you open our hearts to ways that we can reach out and help.  And may we share a kind and uplifting word with all those whom we meet today.  In Jesus Name we pray.  Amen.

Teach Us Your Ways, O Lord

Teach us your ways,  O Lord, that we may follow the way of wisdom through all the temptations and pitfalls of life.  Yourf way leads to fulfillment and inward joy and peace - show us that way.  We would be yours forever, yet we often look to false avenues of life for fulfillment, and find emptiness instead.  Give us the insight to avoid doing that.  Let us find our greatest joy in being with you in all of life.  In Jesus Name we pray.   Amen.

"My Thoughts Are Not Your Thoughts"

Almighty God, through the words of Isaiah You have taught us that Your thoughts are not our thoughts and our ways are not Your ways.  Yet we continue to question why things happen contrary to what we think is best.  Like Job, show us the expanse of Your creation, O Lord, and remnd us that You are indeed in command of all that happens, and that someday we will understand why You have guided us as You have.  Fill us with Your Love that we may trust You explicitly.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

God of all Mercy and Might

God of all mercy and might, we come to your throne in prayer today for all those people in Northeastern United States as a historical blizzard bears down on them.  We know the power of nature -   no one can stand aganst such furry!  We implore you to be with them to guide and protect them from harm.  Many are still trying to recover from Hurricane Sandy, and are in desperate need of your help, O loving Father.  Move the hearts of all of to reach out and help them in whatever ways we can.  But even with the best we humans can do, only you have the power and compassion to protect them. Humbly we ask it in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Great and  Gracious God, when we look at the wonder of your creation, how can we ever doubt that you are in control of our lives, and that you love us enough to watch out for us?  Forgive us for our lack of faith, and rebirth our faith in your providence.  Graciously lead us in the way of life which leads to your kingdom, and give us the courage to follow your guidance.  Thank you for pursuing us when we wander from your presence, and may we be yours forever.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Still Our Troubled Minds

Lord of the universe, we get so caught up in the bad news we see every day, that we begin to despair.  Still our troubled minds with the soothing power of your Spirit.  Give us insight to see beyond the news of this world, to the good news from Christ who assured us that he has over come the world.  Let your light shine in and through us, chasing the darkness away and showing us the path you have chosen for us.  Help us to remember the we have nothing to fear because you walk beside us every step of our lives.   Praise be to you, our gracious God.  In Jesus Name we pary.  Amen,

Set Our Lives On A Sure Course

Everlasting God our Father, whose love the darkness cannot overcome and whose goodness the darkness cannot hide; set our lives on a sure course like stars in the night.  Unless you pour into our souls the oil of faith, our spiritts are but flickering lights blowing in the wind!  Let the light of your Son Jesus Christ shine on us so we can see the way you would have us follow.  Warm our hearts, inspire our spirits and strengthen our understanding that with new courage we may go forth as servants of the cross that redeems.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Hear Our Cries

Hear our cries, O Lord, as we struggle with so many sensless killings of the innocent, and so many violent crimes. 
Encourage our failing hearts with the assurance that you are still Lord of the universe, and that evil will not overcome the light you brought into our world through your Son Jesus Christ. 
Comfort, also, all those who are mourning the loss of their loved ones through death.  Help them see through their tears your promise of eternal life.
Hear our humble prayers, O Lord.  We pray in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Great Is Your Faithfulness

 Great is your faithfulness, O Lord our savior!  In deep humility we come to you in prayer today, seeking to align ourselves with the powerful flow of your Spirit.  Hearken unto our prayers both written and hidden within our hearts where only you can enter.  There is so much in life that is frightening - we are not safe any longer in our own homes, and our children are at risk every day.  Show us how we can stand up against evil in our society, and make the world a place of peace.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right and the strength to pursue righteousness, that your Kingdom might become a reality in our time.  We thank you for being present in human history, always guiding us in those paths that lead to happiness and fulfillment of our lives.  Guide us today.  In Jesus Name we pray.  Amen.
