Show Us The Way

God of infinite wisdom and power, thank you for this new day.  You know what will face us today, so we ask that you show us the way to fulfill your plans for our day.  Help us to feel close to you all day, and to be wise enough to discern your guiding hand in everything we do.  May your Spirit enable us to have the strength to follow your leading and to bring glory to your Name as we find fulfillment for our lives.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Awesome God

Awesome God, from the minutest microb of your creation to the unlimited vastness of the galaxies, your creative power causes us to tremble inj awe!  Yet, by your grace, you came to earth to share our life with us in Jesus Christ and to call us unto yourself through your loving act of sacrifice in his life death and resurrection.  That causes us even greater awe!!  You are so vast in  your existence, that our limited minds are incapable of experiencing you, so you came to us in human form that we might be assured of your love for us, and of your continual presence with us.  Awesome God, we love you because you first loved us.  All praise and glory be unto you.  In Jesus name we offer our praise and thanksgiving.  Amen.

Gracious God

Forgiving and Gracious God, who welcomes every daughter and son who comes to you in prayer; we open our hearts to you today to see if there be any wicked way in us, and ask you to cleanse our hearts.  Even when we are too ashamed to come to you asking for forgiveness, you already are searching us out, meeting us wherever we go to bring us your love and forgiveness.  We praise you that through the goodness you lavish upon us, we are strengthened to live more righteous lives, and through your love, you bring us into closer communion with you.  How wondrous are your ways, how saving is your grace!  Thanks be unto you, O God our strength and our redeemer.  In Jesus Name we pray.  Amen.

Strength To Follow Your Leading

Gracious God we come to you in prayer in the confidence that you hear our prayers and will always answer us.  Thank you for making it possible for us to avail ourselves of your love and power through prayer.  We humbly and joyously praise your name, and invoke your guidance and blessing for this new day.  Make us aware of those avenues of service which you would have us follow, and give us strength and courge to always follow your leading.  We pray in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Protect The Homeless

Merciful God, when it is bitter cold like today, my heart goes out to those who are homeless.  Move the hearts of others as well, that we might provide relief for them through shelter, Motel Room stays and food served at many shelters.  Do not let us be well-wishers only, but actively involved as  Your agents to bring the needy relief.  Help us to protect the homeless.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Cast Out Any Evil

As the icy cold fingers of this January day grip the heart of our midwest and northern states, O Lord, we are reminded of how quickly the cold grip of evil in our lives can squeeze out the warmth of love, compassion and neighborliness and make our hearts cold and our lives self-centered.  Help us to reach out to your love which brings warmth and life into our world.  Cast our any evil thoughts or behavior in our lives that builds walls of hostility and separates us from your Grace and from our neighbor.  Warm our lives with your presence.  In Jesus Name we pray.  Amen.

We Will Follow God

Loving God, thank you for this beautiful new day.  Our whole future lies before us - be it short or long!  As we stand on the threshold of this new day, may we follow the example of Joshua as the Israelites entered into Canaan when he said, "as for me and my house, we shall choose to follow God."  Everyday we are faced with choices to make, and temptations to place other "gods" before you, O Lord.  Help us to see clearly that there are no other gods other than you.  Gods like success, or wealth, or drugs or sex and a host of other call out to us to give them our allegiance.  Lord, give us the wisdom and the strength to keep our minds and hearts focused on you and you alone.  We ask it in the Name of Jesus'.  Amen.

Bless Our President

Almighty God, on this the day of our President's  Inauguration, we recall how the great kings and great rulers throughout history, always looked to You for guidance, wisdom and strength in their leadership of their countries.  Be with our president Barack Obama, as he starts his second term as President of the United States that he might look to You as the true ruler of our country and of the world.  Bless our President with the wisdom You gave unto king Solomon so many centuries ago, that he might face all the enormous decisions that are before him and our nation and world.  May he lead us in the way of Peace.  May we follow his leading and through our prayers help him to be faithful to the Ruler of the Universe!  Bless our nation, also we pray, that we might continue to be a light to the other nations of the world, and that we neveer use our military power for our own gain, but only as a means to preserve Peace among all peoples.  We are in your Hands, O God, use us in the upbuilding of Your Kingdom on earth.  In Jesus' Name we do pray.  Amen.

Grant Us your Peace

God of all Grace: Grant us Your peace which passes all understanding, that the quietness that comes from walking with you might fill our souls.  As we withdraw for these few brief monents from the turmoils of life, help us to recover the strength we have lost, and pass victoriously  through all the troubles of this our earthly life.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Children Of The Heavenly Father

Loving God, mother/father of us all, we delight every day in the knowledge that through the life, death, resurrection and reign of your Son Jesus the Christ, You have made us Your children!  Praise be unto You for Your immeasureable, steadfast Love!  Now, as Your children, in this new day guide us in the way you would have us follow.  In Your mercy, fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we might have the resolve to be faithful to our calling this beautiful day.  Work through our humble lives to bring light and Love into our world and to win more of your children into Your kingdeom.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Thankyou For Human Love

We thank you, Heavy Father, for these days in which we are bound together intimately in the warmth of home and family.  We are grateful for all who minister to our comfort, safety and health.  Evoke in us daily appreciation for the tender care of human love.  We thank you for unselfish parents, for the love that binds husband and wife, for the trust of little children and for friends who enrich us with counsel and companionship.  For all these blessings, we give You thanks.  In jesus' Name we pay.  Amen.

Children of Peace and Justice

Gracious Lord, who has come to reveal yourself to us as a Lord of Love and compasssion, we thank you for coming to us in Jesus to teach us that your Way is Peace and not war.  Help us to learn that lesson, and to alter our lives accordingly, so we become children of the Prince of Peace!  May we bring your peace and Love into every avenue of our lives that our families may become a school wherein our children learn your Gospel of peace; our marriages a covenantal realationhip modeleed on your covenantal love for your children; our places of work the instrument whereby your justice and righteousness might be avenues bringing change to all of society and our lives patterened after the life of You our Savior.  We pray in your most blessed Name.  Amen.

Inspire Us With New Purposes

Almighty God, author and finisher of our lives and all that is, we thank you for the privilege to come to you in prayer and to share the power of your Spirit.  Prepare us for this day and for all days to come.  Let your Grace enlighten our darkness and strengthen our weakness.  Inspire us with new purposes and hopes.  Deepen within our hearts love of truth and goodness.  Enable us to discern the solemn meaning of these earthly days and the high and sacred purpose for which we have been called.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

O God, we consecrate to you all that we have, the powers of our mind, the members of our body, our wealth, and our time.  Grant us grace to employ all we have to your glory, and to live in obedience to your commandments with a burning, yet humble desire to be yours for all of eternity.  We pray in Jesus' Name.  Amen.

Bless Each Generation

Eternal God, the Inspirer of the song of youth, the Giver of hope to the mature and the Answer to the yearnings of the ages; we are thankful that each generation finds your blessings as we adventure in trying to do your Will.  As we test the old and the new, we rejoice that Christ's words still echo your eternal truth.  We would carry with us the joyous tidings that Christ was born the Savior of the world.  In Jesus name we pray.  Amen.

Let Our Days Be Markers of Joy

As we tremble in the midst of our hurrying days, O Lord, grant us an awareness that each life is long enough to love and be loved, that every face was meant to be turned uoward you, and that every heart was formed to beat with concern for our neighbors.  Eternal God, let our frail lives give evidence of the power of your love and the strength of your Spirit.  May our brierf hours and days be markers of joy, of kindness and of a deathless faith. Bless Us In Our Ministry

Light of the World; ignite our souls so we are on fire with your Gospel and reaching out to bring light to a darkened world.  May we never be misled into believing that the little spark of faith in each of us doesn't make a difference in overcoming the powers of darkness.  Help us to believe that your Light can and does shine through us if only we live in you.  Bless us in our ministry that we might truly be children of light.  In Jesus' name we pray.  Amen.

Strength In The New Year

Merciful God: Be the help and comfort of all who have entered this new year in poverty, distress, sickness or grief over the loss of a loved one.  May they find in your Word, strength, comfort and guidance for the years ahead.  We would also pray for the new congress just sworn in, that your Spirit might guide them and fill them with your wisdom and understanding and that they might look to your Law to guide them in their lawmaking for our land.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

O God of peace, we pause in this busy day to come to you seeking refuge in prayer from the noise and hurry of the world, and the oppression of selfish thoughts and fears.  Deliver us from the power of Sin which hides You from us, and give us Peace.  Grant that the Spirit which dwelt so fully in your Son may also dwell in us so that in gladness we might go forth with hearts made cheerful and srong by the knowledge of Your Love.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

Help Us In The New Year

Eternal all knowing God, Replenish us with heavenly grace at the beginning of this year, that we may be enabled to accelpt all its duties, to perform all its labors, to welcome all its mercies, to meet all its trials, and to advance through all it holds in store for us, with cheerful courage and a constant mind focused on our Lord.  We ask it in his most blessed Name.  Amen.

Hellp UIs Fight The Good Fight

Keep us mindful, O Lord, as the years of our life pass away, that the end of all things is always near at hand:  Make us sober and watchful of those things yet to come which can lead us away from the path you have laid for us.  Teach us to search for your wisdom through Bible reading and prayer.  Give us grace to so live our lives that we will always be ready to answer your call into life eternal.  Help us to fight the good fight, to finish our course and to keep the faith, that our lives this year and always will bring glory to your Name.  In your most blessed Name we ask it.  Amen.
