Enable Us To Please You

Almighty God, we acknlwledge  that we are not powerful enough to resist the temptations of this life, but need your help!  Mercifully grant us the power of your spirit to fill our hearts and minds, that we might be filled with your love and the mind of Christ Jesus, Our Lord.  Thus may we be worthy tools in your hands to bring the good news of Christ Crucified and risen to all whom we meet.  Make our lives reflections of your redeeming power.  In Jesus' Name we do pray.  Amen.

For Greater Love

O Gracious and loving God, You are worthy of a much greater love than we can either understand or give!  Help us in this sacred season, by granting us grace and knowledge to love You more and more.  Put into our hearts a continual desire to obey Your Will, and give us grace and power to fulfill your Will for us.  In Jesus' Name.  Amen.

Bless our Lenten Journey

Good and gracious God, thank you for your steadfast love displayed in your covenant with Noah and Abraham and Moses and finally with us as fulfilled in the cross!  Such sacrificial love humbles us, but also challenges us to be more sacrificial in our expressions of love to one another.  Bless this Lenten Journey which leads us through Good Friday to Easter Sundauy.  May we find in these days of contemplation an understanding of how wonderful the covenant you have made with your people really is!  May that realization overcome our fears and give us perseverance and hope in times of adversity.  We pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, Our Savior.  Amen.

Preserve Us From The Cares Of Life

We ask, O Gracious God, that you preserve us from the cares of this life, lest we become too much concerned with them.  Guide us away from the pleasures of the flesh, that we do not become ensnared by lust. Help us overcome any of the obstacles to the soul that abound in this life, lest we be led astray for the life with you that leads to true happiness and total fulfillment of our lives.  Give us strength to persevere in our pursuit of your Will for our lives.  Amen.

A Prayer for Healing

O God, enable those of us who are experiencing your healing powers to have a true spirit of gratitude, that we may love to thank you for all your benefitrs.  Help those who are waiting for your grace to be patient rather than anxious; restful instead of overly conscious of worrying cares; and cheerful for the angels of mercy who bring help for healig.  For all your mercies we thank you in the name of Him who suffered for us all.  Amen.

Show Us What We Were Meant To Be

Holy and ever-loving God, who is always more willing to give than we are to ask, we thank you for this glorious day with all its beauty and possibilities.  You have revealed in the light of this new day, that with you there is always light for our souls and that you have overcome the darkness of sin in our lives.  We would open up our hearts and minds to that newness of life which you have provided  for us in the sacrificial love of your Son, Jesus our Lord!  Let not the darkness of our sins, or the  limitations of our minds hide your Will from us.  Show us anew the image of what we were meant to be.  In Jesus' name we do pray.  Amen. 

As We Begin Our Observance of Lent

O God, the Fountain of life and the Sun of our souls: we thank you for permitting us again to observe the sacred season of Lent.  Accept our gratitude for your love, which was so great that you sent your only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  Forbid, O God, that we should forget - amid our earthly comforts - the pains and mortal anguish that our Lord endured for our salvation.  Grant us a true vision of all that He suffered to humble our hearts, and to make us realize just how precious our life is, that You would die on the cross for us.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.

For Those Walking In Darkness

God of infinite compassion, God of all comfort, reveal yourself as the Light of Life to those who have been brought into the darkness of sorrow.  Strengthen the hearts that faint under a heavy burden.  Let them know that in thieir distress you care about them with and unfailing compassion.  Help them to bear their burdens with patience, looking to you to lghten their load.  Amen.

Help Us To Listen

Gracious God, whenever we come to you in prayer, we are confident that you are listening.  But most of the time we do all the talking and you can't get a word in edgewise!  Help us to become better listeners.  When we pray, make us pause now and then to listen!  And when we talk with our loved ones, or our friends or co-workers, may we have the wisdom to concentrate all of our attention on what is being said, so we are better informed as to how we should reply.  Listening is hard for us, Lord; help us to be better listeners - to you and to one another.  In Jesus' name we pray.  Amen.

In The Stillness of this Moment

O God, who makes yourself known in the stillness, help us to feel your presence as we draw away from the hectic word in  this time of prayer.  In the stillness of this moment, grant us your spirit and your truth to comfort our souls and lead us to find your good purpose for our life - for this day.  May we find ways today and in the days to come to make a difference in someone's life and to bring your love to them.  In the name of Jesus, the Christ, we do pray.  Amen.

The Fountain of all Good

O God, the Fountain of all good:  accept our humble gratitude for all your wonderful gifts to us: your favor, which is life; your loving-kindness which is better than life; your powerful presence in the Spirit which transforms our life.  Out of these gifts, may we also give to your and your children the love of our hearts and the service of our lives in the upbuilding of your Kingdom on earh.  In Jesus name we pray.  Amen.

In The Stillness of this Moment

Gracious God of the prophet Elijah and of us as well, who comes to us not in the wind or the fire, but in the still small voice within; we pause in silence this morning, seeking to hear your voice and feel your presence.  We live in a hectic and imperfect world that often drowns out your voice and blinds us to your presence - help us to hear and feel your presence above the din of everyday life.  Grant us your spirit and your truth to comfort us and strengthen us to be about the business of your upbuilding of your Kingdom on earth!  May we not only pray to you in moments of silence like this one, but continually pray to you by living lives which will glorify your name, and be useful to your task of redeeming your lost children.  We pray it all in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

Enlighten Our Way Through The Light of Christ

Everlasting God, whose love all the darkness of this sinful wolrd cannot overcome or hide, enlighten our lives so that we might not lose our way on the path of life.   Unless you pour into our souls the oil of faith, our spirits will flicker and wane until we lose our way.  With your light of life , shining on us in Jesus Christ, we can see our portion of the way and entrust the unfinished course to the brightness shining from afar.  Let our daily prayers warm our hearts, inspire our spirits, and strengthen our understanding that with new courage we may go forth as servants of the cross that redeems.  Amen.

Let Us Desire No One But You

Dear God our Heavenly Parent, even when we hesitate to come to you in prayer because of our failures or shame, You are always ready to meet us with your love and goodness.  We thank You , O God, that through the goodness which You lavish on us, we are bound together as a family of grace.  We hold precious things in common, we converse in the circle of prayer, and we rejoice in Your eternal presence which is always with us.  How good and wonderful You are, O precious Lord.  We give thanks in the name of Jesus our Savior.  Amen.

The Abundance of God's Mercy

Almighty and everlasting God, more willing to hear our prayers than we are to pray, and who gives to us in abundance when we are not worthy to receive; pour upon us yet again, the abundance of your mercy, forgiving those things through which we have offended You and hurt ourselves or others.  Give us grace to be more faithful as your children and more in spirit like our Lord Jesus Christ.  Walk with us this day to keep us from doing harm to ourselves or anyone else or being wayward in our living.  In the name of Christ, we do pray.  Amen.

More Love For God

O Lord of Love, we give you our most ardent praise and thanksgiving for all your blessings and great mercy toward us.  We know these are gifts from You which we in no way deserve or have earned.  May we learn from Your divine example to be more loving ourselves toward one another and especially to demonstrate more love for You, our God, Savior and Freind.  Thus may we keep You in our thoughts constantly, and try harder each day to do Your Will - for we know following Your leading will bring the absolute fullness of life.  In Jesus Name, we pray.  Amen.

Help Us To Love Each Other

O God of Love, you have taught us through your Word to love one another.  Give us grace, we pray, to fulfill your new commandment, "Love one another, even as I have loved you!".  Fill our hearts with love so our lives might be beacons of good will wherever we are.  Help us to not judge others unfairley.  Teach us to serve as we would be served, to understand as we would be understood.  Give us the mind of Christ our Lord so we might be kind to one another, tenderhearted, and generous, as you have been to us.  Amen.

Direct What We Shall Be

Our Heavenly Mother/Father, who has made us in your spiritual likeness and through your love has kept us always close to your presence, and through your love in Christ Jesus has shown us the perfect life, forgive us when we just "don't get it!"  Open our souls to the awareness of your saving love, and help us to love you in return.  In the power of your Spirit, guide and lead us into the life that you have willed for us.  In Jesus' Name, we pray.  Amen.

Thanks For Life

O God of Love:  we thank you for life and love, for the mystery and majesty of existence, for the world of beauty which surrounds us, for everything you have given us richly to enjoy; for health and vigor, for the love and care of home, for joys of friendship and for every loving gift - we thank You.  Amen.

Thanks For The Gifts of Human Love

We thank you our Father/Mother, for these days in which we are bound together intimately in the warmth of home and family.  We are grateful for all who minister to our comfort, safety anbd health.  Evoke in us daily appreciation fore the tender care of human love.  We thank you for unselfish parents, for the love that binds husband and wife, for the trust of little children, and for friends who enrich us with counsel and companionship.  Help us, gracious God to live lives of gratidude for all you have given us.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

Remake Us

Creator God, create in us clean hearts and drive out any thoughts that would keep us from being in relationship with you or our neighbors.  Fill us with patient tenderness for others; make us ready to help, and quick to forgive.  And fill us with your Grace to remake us into vessels in which your spirit is present, overcoming all fears and endowing us with an eternal trust in your faithfulness.  We pray it all in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

Almighty and most merciful God, we give You thanks for all your goodness and bountious blessings!    We especially praise You for the gift of Your most precious Son, our Savior.  We ask that you continue to implant in our heartrs and minds Your will for us and understanding of your Holy Word.  May we have the strength to follow Your Word and bring forth fruit by patient continuance in well-doing.  In Jesus' name we pray.  Amen.

Broaden Our Thoughts

Father/Mother of all Grace and Mercy, broaden out thoughts to include You in everything that we do; fill our hearts with Your Spirit that we may also have compassion on all our neighbors.  Bless us with Your power to be co-creators with You in our homes, church, community and world.  Make us humble as we discover and receive Your many gifts.  Bestow upon us the grace to reach out to the lost and fallen and to offer them new life through faith in You.  Thus may we walk with our Lord Jesus in paths of service and redemption.  In His name we do pray.  Amen.
