Fill Our Hearts With Copmpassion

Loving and Compassionate Father, you have blessed us with so many provisions in this life.  Give us the grace to be compassionate as you are for those who are not so blessed because those of  us who have plenty have not generously shared our blessings with others.  Make us aware of the thousands who are starving because of ignorance or superstition or because of the horrors of humankind's destructive activities.  Forgive us where we have tolerated filth and diease and overcrowded conditions to exist in our cities, when you desire to fill the earth and every life with beauty and strength.  So may our lives follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, who not only reached out to the sick and lame the poor and disinfranchised, but actually gave his life as a ransom for us all.  It's in his name that we do pray.  Amen.
